This area conducts the Roadmap Development Phase to assess the impact of AI techniques in the area of traffic planning and management. The aim of WP4 is to address Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to support railway traffic operations planning and management. In particular, this work package will investigate the following topics:
- AI approaches for train delay prediction (both real-time and ex-ante)
- AI approaches for timetable robustness and train performance assessment
- AI approaches for real-time traffic management
- Address advantages and limitations of AI-based models
- Determine needs and recommendations for promising AI applications for developing future traffic management decision support systems
